Training course for Youth Workers

Diversity is not only about the presence of different cultural, ethnic, social, and identity groups in society. It is also a continuous and evolving process of mutual learning, solidarity, and co-creation. Youth workers play a crucial role in this process by empowering communities to recognize diversity as a collective strength and a foundation for inclusive development.Building on the foundations of the first edition, “Spaces of Diversity II” deepens the exploration of how social structures and power dynamics shape the perception and experience of diversity and interculturality. Over the course of four days, we will not only critically examine dominant narratives, institutional frameworks, and everyday practices that influence inclusion, but also co-design new approaches that foster active participation and cooperation.

Objectives: 

• Deepen experiential understanding of diversity and inclusion – Move beyond conceptual discussions to explore lived experiences, intersectionality, and the emotional dimensions of inclusion in diverse communities.

• Strengthen youth workers’ competences for transformative practice – Enhance participants’ ability to design, implement, and evaluate inclusive youth work initiatives that challenge exclusionary norms and empower underrepresented voices.

• Explore advanced participatory and community-based approaches – Experiment with innovative, co-creative methods that engage young people as active contributors in shaping inclusive social and cultural environments.

• Translate inclusion into organizational and policy contexts – Analyze how inclusive values can be embedded in organizational cultures and local policies, encouraging systemic change and sustainable impact.

• Co-create joint programs and projects for inclusive communities – A part of the training will be dedicated to developing joint programs and projects, providing space for participants to translate shared ideas into practical initiatives that promote openness, equality, and collaboration across communities.
